It’s the era of the man cave and the males of the species are ready to admit they deserve a little pampering. A growing number indulge in that ultimate luxury—a straight razor shave by a master barber, complete with the ritual of hot towels, soothing balms and talc. A barber who knows his stuff says it takes just 14 strokes to manscape the fiercest masculine face foliage. Charlotte, it turns out, is a field ripe for this return of male sartorial indulgence. Roosters Men’s Grooming Centers, a national chain, has three locations in the region, and the Art of Shaving, a Proctor and Gamble-owned outfit, is offering “The Royal Shave” along with a selection of top-priced shaving accessories at its “barber spa” in SouthPark Mall. However, many locally owned and operated barbershops offer this service as well, often at more budget-friendly prices. For more options, see our related article, Best Places For Men’s Haircuts In Charlotte, with contact information for City Barbers at Uptown, The Cut Barbershop, Emerson Joseph and Shear Excellence, which all offer straight razor shaves.
