Numerous lectures are given each year in Charlotte, many by nationally and internationally-known figures. The regional universities, including UNC-Charlotte, Queens University, Davidson College and Central Piedmont Community College, are especially active in bringing speakers to town by hosting many programs open to the general public. Other lecture series take place at regional museums, churches and community centers on a wide range of topics from art and history to current affairs and personal growth.
