There’s nothing quite like a beautiful garden when you are looking for a place to propose. The scenic beauty of the botanical gardens at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a perfect place for such a special occasion. You’ll find a lot of variety here, with a rich diversity of species and cultivar. The Botanical Gardens are made up of three main areas known as the three-acre Susie Harwood Garden, the McMillan Greenhouse complex, and the seven-acre Van Landingham Glen. In each garden is a unique collection of flowers and plants. These include orchids, desert plants, carnivorous plants, tropical items, trees, native wildflowers, plus a winter garden, Asian garden, and a water garden. Hours: Outdoor gardens are always open; the greenhouse is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday; 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday. (Greenhouse hours may vary when classes are in session).
