With Memorial Day at our heels, the time is right for resting, relaxing, cooking out and remembering those who have served our country with devotion, diligence and bravery. Here are some of the most relaxing places to spend time with friends and family while paying homage to those servicemen and women.

McAlpine Creek Park

One of the most picturesque parks in Charlotte, McAlpine Creek offers great opportunities for rest and relaxation. There are 462 acres, Fishing pier, a Gazebo, horseshoes for a spirited game, a three acre lake, five soccer fields and a 1.5-mile nature trail. Of course there are ample places for picnicking as well.

The Carmel Road Park

With ten acres, two multi-purpose fields, a huge picnic shelter, and an area for children, Carmel Road Park is the perfect place for a gathering with friends and family. The park also offers two tennis courts and a softball field. So comfort, fresh air and quiet are ready for your taking!

Copperhead Island

The most appealing element of Copperhead Island is its ever-famous direct boat launching access to Lake Wylie. There is also a fishing pier, nature trails and a picnic shelter. Located in Southwest Charlotte, it is a great place for a departure from the rest of the world!

Mallard Creek Community Park

This 20,000-square-foot recreation center is the first part of a multiphase development of the 500-acre Mallard Creek Community Park, that is located in northeast Charlotte. Mallard Creek Community Park is located north of the Tradition Golf Course and east of the newly constructed recreation ball fields. Outdoor tennis, volleyball courts and an indoor natatorium are all part of the future plans for this park. In addition to a plethora of recreation for friends and family, the park also has two picnic shelters, a concession stand and a playground for the kids.
