The new year should always be celebrated with friends and/or family, be entertaining and adventurous enough to keep you up all night. Of course this means fireworks, a little libation and music. Without these vital requirements, New Year’s Eve might as well be just another day. These are the top five parties in Charlotte offering exactly that and so much more.

Charlotte’s annual family friendly celebration uptown includes stations just for kids including face painting and games. Enjoy tons of entertainment as well musicians, comedians, magicians, dancers, etc. For kids, the First Night celebrating goes until 5 p.m., but then picks back up around 8 p.m. for the adult crowd. Always a success, Charlotte families make this a tradition year after year.

This will be Widespread Panic’s 2nd annual New Year’s Eve event here in the Queen City, and it’s a food drive event to truly give back to the community all around. The band is also slated to play a show for Toys for Toys the night before at the Fillmore for plenty of holiday fun. Widespread Panic is a Georgia band formed back in 1986, promising Southern rock and jazz and influences in each catchy tune.

Charlotte’s dueling piano bar will be rockin’ on New Year’s Eve. Enjoy a variety of packages, including the Champagne supernova with a gourmet dinner by Maggiano’s, two drinks, your Champagne toast and reserve seating in the main section. Options are pared all of the way down to $30 for guaranteed admission and a Champagne toast. No matter your choice, Howl at the Moon promises one of the rockin’est parties in Charlotte.

The Fillmore Charlotte, which opened in June 2009, features an incredible atmosphere and design that captures the essence of the original Fillmore in San Francisco. The venue promises a unique feel guaranteed to captivate the crowd with every show. Rock out to Skream & Joker all night — as long as you’re 18 or older — but expect a standing-room-only style party.

Hilton Charlotte University is a luxurious hotel located in the center of the University area in Charlotte. For New Years Eve, the hotel has put together a couple of packages for couples to lavish in the New Year’s celebration. They’re fairly pricey, but worth it with an incredible dinner buffet, live entertainment (Hot Sauce), four hours of an open bar, a Champagne toast, the balloon drop at midnight and a DJ throughout the night.
