A combination of dancing, drinking, good food and great company is the earmark of the Latin night scene in Charlotte. Music ranges from traditional Mexican grooves and love songs to disco and more. Some clubs offer dance lessons for those who are rhythmically challenged. Fun, friendly, welcoming atmospheres are the order of the day and night when visiting this side of Charlotte.

La Torre’s is considered the best in the city when it comes to fun, entertainment, dancing and drinks. La Torre’s offers free salsa lessons and free cover for ladies on special nights. On Fridays and Saturdays, come to La Torre’s for Latin nights and get your groove on. A state-of-the-art sound and lighting system are also a source of pride for the club.

Skandalos
5317 E. Independence Blvd.
Charlotte, NC 28212
(704) 535-4383
www.facebook.com/skandalosclub

A diverse crowd gathers at Skandalos for the music and dancing with most saying this is a lively club though not in the “best part of town.” Drinks and drink specials are a highlight with a minimal menu. Most come for the music and the continuous party atmosphere. Skandalos is a more “hard edge” club but many who visit here say that the dancing and grooves far outweigh anything else. Every Saturday, come in and enjoy every type of Latin music you can think of from salsa to merengue to bachata and beyond.

Cosmos Cafe
300 N. College St.
Charlotte, NC 28202
(704)-372-3553
www.cosmoscafe.com

This cozy cafe by day and club by night is one of the little-known hot spots for salsa dancing, good food, drinks and dancing. The club offers free salsa lessons weekly and then cranks up the music for a get-down good time. Cosmos Cafe has a DJ spin the beats while patrons of all skill levels dance the night away.

The Scorpio
2301 Freedom Drive
Charlotte, NC 28208
(704) 373-9124
www.thescorpio.com

The Scorpio is one of the longest running clubs in Charlotte and, while primarily a LGBT club, there is more diversity here and tolerance to go with it than most college campuses. The main dance floor spins Top 40 hits while upstairs you will find The Latin Room where you can salsa with the best of them. There are always special events taking places and one of the most popular is the Drag Show where you can just never quite tell who is under the make-up, wigs and outrageous costumes. Drinks are affordable and the music is hot while the Latin Room can get steamy. Though not for everyone, The Scorpio should be for anyone wanting to let go and have a good time.
