Rountree Plantation Garden Center grows 14 varieties of poinsettias at its location off of Old Pineville Road. Besides the traditional red variety, shop red glitter, sparkling punch and marbella. Red glitter appeared on the retail scene in 2011 and is of the jingle bell series — spots or splotches appearing across a red background. The marbella features a salmon pink color with cream edges. The 4.5-inch poinsettia starts at $6.99. Green or gold pot covers are available for free. Customize the gift with handmade bows, foil wrapping, baskets or pottery containers. European garden arrangements are available by adding an assortment of foliage, such as palms, ivy or ferns.

Customers include businesses and dozens of churches across Mecklenburg and adjoining counties. The bright, red poinsettia is a popular holiday decor in church sanctuaries during the Christmas season. They also are offered in memory of a passed family member. Plants are delivered straight from the grower for a $10 delivery fee.
