Charlotte is a dog-friendly city with many parks, walking trails and even restaurants where you can take your pooch. Although having dogs inside restaurants is illegal, most restaurants that have outside seating on decks are usually dog-friendly. Divided into the three most fun sections of Charlotte–NoDa, Plaza Midwood and Southend– are a few restaurants to take your dog. Whether you’re in the mood for pizza or barbeque, these restaurants will welcome you and your dog, outside of course!

NoDa is the historic arts district of Charlotte with galleries, music venues, coffee shops and dog-friendly restaurants and bars. The Dog Bar NoDa deserves the first mention simply because of its name and nature. It is, in fact, a bar where you can bring your dog while you enjoy happy hour with your friends and yes, you can order food from many of the neighboring restaurants including Cabo Fish Taco, Boudreaux’s, Solstice Tavern, Crepe Cellar and Growler’s Pour House, among others. There is a 10-dollar yearly membership for each dog and owners must be able to show proof of rabies vaccinations. Dogs must be well-behaved and a copy of dog rules must be signed. In the warmer months, the Dog Bar NoDa can host dog birthday parties, dog adoption parties, social events and live music. This Sunday check out Sunday Fundays with live music from 3-5pm! You must be 18 years old to enter. Call (704) 351-2323 to book a dog party or email info@dogbarcharlotte.com for more information.

Zada Jane’s in Plaza Midwood is very popular with dogs and their owners, as they have a large outside patio where dogs have room to lay down and the wait staff will even bring your dog some water. Zada Jane’s is a popular spot for brunch on the weekends, although be prepared to wait because it’s packed. There is a coffee bar to enjoy a latte while you wait for the delicious breakfast dishes served all day. A favorite among locals is the Bunny Rancheros for $8.95. Bunny Rancheros is two of your choice happy eggs atop black beans, home fries and your choice of either chorizo, turkey sausage, local Grateful Growers pork sausage, soysage or Chipotle chicken topped with a pepper jack cheese queso sauce, guacomole, salsa verde and sour cream served with warm, flour tortillas.
