Best Charlotte Movie Theaters

Catching a movie on the weekends can become a drag at the same old destinations. We’ve found some places to heighten your moviegoing experience. So this weekend, change it up by adding dinner or drinks at one of our exciting, unique theater options.

Regal Phillips Place Stadium

Located conveniently near SouthPark Mall, Regal Phillips Place Stadium is the perfect destination following an afternoon shopping spree. If you’re looking for place to catch dinner and a movie, this theater is also located within minutes from several of Charlotte’s finest restaurants—P.F. Chang’s, Cheesecake Factory and McCormick & Schmick’s, just to name a few. Inside, it is clean, well-kept and comfortable. Overall, it’s a great theater to catch a flick whether you’re planning a date or just an outing with friends.

Ballantyne Village Theatre

For a romantic night out, the Ballantyne Village Theatre is a fantastic destination. Located in Ballantyne Village, the theater is within short walking distance of several shops, restaurants and bakeries. The atmosphere and glowering lights after dark make for a lovely evening out. Additionally, there is a bar inside the theater so that patrons may purchase wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages while enjoying a movie in the luxury seating. Ballantyne Village shows several independent films, so it is a great place for those who are partial to less mainstream cinema. However, it does generally have one or two blockbuster films showing as well. Ultimately, Ballantyne Village is in a great location and provides a unique atmosphere.

EpiCentre Theaters

If you are looking for the ultimate luxurious moviegoing experience, EpiCentre Theaters is the way to go. Located in the heart of the EpiCentre within walking distance of Charlotte’s best nightclubs and restaurants, one can enjoy an upscale dining and viewing experience. Moviegoers can take delicious Mez dinners into the theater to dine while enjoying a movie from comfortable loveseats. If you aren’t in the mood for dinner, the theater offers the customary concession items of popcorn and candy. This theater is right in the middle of uptown’s best action—it’s a fantastic place for a date or a wonderful way to start your night out.

Phillips Place is good only if you are seeing a film in one of the large theatres.
Unfortunately when purchasing tickets one is not informed that some of the films are shown in the back . Here one is seated practically on top of the screen, very uncomfortable seating. A scam on the part of the management.
This situation does not occur at Stonecrest nor at AMC; so if comfortable seating, wide screen and a choice of seating is available skip Phillips Place lunless of course one inquires before purchasing the ticket as to theatre location.
