For young professionals in Charlotte, a good part of getting ahead in their career should be attributed to who they know. No matter what the occasion or location, networking is always a given. Of course, some places are better for networking than others, so it’s best to be in the right places to meet the people who are in the know. Here are some great local bars where you’re likely to rub shoulders with Charlotte’s movers and shakers.

Selwyn’s Pub is known for its amazing patio room, which is located on the far left side of the building. The patio room allows patrons the chance to talk and network. It features a couple of couches, two TVs, a coffee table and a comfortable level of privacy from the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd inside. It does a great job of practically recreating the a living room in a house, making it a home away from home for social networking.

Whiskey Warehouse serves up the perfect balance of bar space, food, TVs, service, patio, views and the overall ambiance that makes any bar worth hanging out at. It boasts amazing specials, including $2 Bud Lite and $3 micro brews. Its menue is expansive, and the restaurant area is a wide open space perfect for rubbing elbows. The overall atmosphere is very positive, and it makes for a great conversation and networking spot.

The Gin Mill features a standard selection of liquor, beer and decent daily specials. What’s great about this bar is that dart boards, a shuffleboard table, video game machines and a foosball table all line the back of bar. These activities pave the way for great networking opportunities, especially for company parties. The setting is very casual, and during the summertime guests may head straight to the roof and relax. The atmosphere is fun and the staff is friendly. The Gin Mill does not serve food, however, it does offer free popcorn.

Formerly Pressbox, Brazwell’s is a fun, local bar with a great outdoor space and excellent food. Its drinks are moderately priced, and it draws in an excellent mix of people between the ages of 20 and 40 — a true college student to business man kind of crowd. Lunch is your best bet for networking here as it dodges any late-night crowds, but promises calm, friendly ambiance all day long.

A recent host to Social Media Day, World of Beer offers an amazing selection of reasonably priced beer. The location is spacious, which makes it a great place to hold an event while also offering plenty of nice seating. The inviting interior features a long bar, and both high-top and low top tables. At World of Beer, you just don’t get crowded out like at other area bars. The spacious environment here allows for some great social and networking opportunities. World of Beer is unique in that it doesn’t offer food at its location. It does, however, provide menus from local eateries which offer prompt delivery service.
