Cinco De Mayo celebrates the Mexican victory over the French invaders in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. This holiday is heartily celebrated in North America with music, food, beverages and lots of fun. The name of this bar alone attracts attention. Located Uptown at the Epicentre, the entertainment normally features dueling pianos, but special efforts are underway to celebrate Cinco De Mayo on Saturday, May 3 with an event called “Drinko De Mayo.” There will be specials on Corona and “mega margaritas.” Enjoy the taco buffet and make a request to the pianists to play your favorite tune as you howl at the moon.

Several bars in the EpiCentre location support Cinco De Mayo, adding to the fun. Carolinanightlife.com brings back its Sombrero Bar Crawl. Last year, the first 500 to attend got free Mexican hats, sombreros, to add to the festivities. There is also a return of the afternoon Chihauhau Race, which benefited the Humane Society last time. The owner of the winning dog gets a trip for two to Mexico. There are two parts to signing up for this event. First is the pre-registration on April 5th at the grand opening of “Vida Vida” at the Epicentre. Next, for those who miss the opening, all night tickets for the Sombrero Bar Crawl, which starts at 8 p.m. are available online until the day of the event, Saturday, May 3.
