Putting together a style for fall that is both fashionable and comfortable can be a challenge. You have to go beyond just copying a trend or buying a high-ticket designer item to achieve a fashion statement that both looks and feels great and comfortable on you. Charlotte, an increasingly style-conscious city, has numerous shops offering a variety of different looks at many price points. A personal fashion consultant can help you navigate the racks and find what looks best on you – a real time and money saver. We asked professional stylist Felicia Bittle to share her five favorite fashion tips for fall 2013.

Felicia shares these tips for putting together a fall look that will position you among the stylish elite.

Leather Select a stylish leather piece as the basis for your fall look, Felicia suggests. “Leather skirts, sheath dresses, leggings/skinny pants are huge this season. These are pieces that can go be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. Leather is awesome for adding edge or contrast to an outfit. Especially be on the lookout for quilted textures.”

Cropped SweatersFelicia says that you can heat up your fall look with a cropped silhouette. “Anyone and everyone has been wearing some of the cutest cropped tops with high-waisted pants or pencil skirts. It’s only natural that this look would transition into fall in the form of cropped sweaters.”

MenswearLooking for a fall look that combines comfort and fashion? Felicia suggests taking a look at menswear. “Patterns such as tweed, plaid or houndstooth along with tuxedo or tailored pants create classic, modern looks. Oxford flats/heels and tote bags are great accents to these items.”

BootiesA must-have accessory for fall is a stylish pair of booties, Felicia says. “Whether peep toes, suede or gladiator, this is a must for your fall shoe collection. Consider lace-ups, buckled or leather booties. There is a look that fits your style and personality. Have fun and rock them with dresses, skirts, skinny pants or leggings.”

Punk FashionFor a look that’s both stylish and edgy, Felicia suggests you accent your look with punk fashion accessories. “Don’t be scared by this term,” she says. “This look infuses attitude with high fashion and glamour. Think buckles, studs and spikes on bags, stilettos or jewelry. These accents convey a sexy edge that can be pulled off by any ‘it’ girl.”
