Tales Of The Tape: USA Vs. Portugal

After an amazing first game victory against Ghana, Team USA is moving on with their heads held high being tied with Germany in Group G. Team USA is looking at Sunday for their next game against Portugal who suffered a huge loss against Germany both on the field and off it.

So before they face on Sunday June 22nd let’s break down both teams and see who should win.

Former Portugal midfielder Paulo Bento is coaching Portugal. The midfielder started his coaching career 10 years ago in a youth league and now he is coaching Portugal.
Winner Jurgen Kilnsman leads Team USA in coaching and has an impressive rap sheet. After playing for Germany in the FIFA World Cup 1990 then coaching the German team in 2006. The son of a baker is impressive when he was on the field and when he coached.
The face of Portugal Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the attack the whole game and with his right hand man Hugo Almeida possibly out with a muscle injury it will be a battle of in front of the net.
Winner Scoring one of the fastest goals in World Cup history Clint Dempsey is looking to add another goal to his already 36 international goals. Jozy Altidore may play on Sunday depending on his hamstring. With Dempsey being the veteran striker it will all depend on the substitutes for USA to pull their weight and if it's anything like the match against Ghana we should be more than fine.
Seen as the #1 goalie in Portugal Eduardo kept a clean 3-game record in the previous World Cup before losing to Spain in the Round of 16. Eduardo may not see play but seeing that Portugal's last goalie allowed 4 goals they may want to change
Winner Tim Howard put up an impressive wall against Ghana only allowing one goal against an impressive Ghana offensive. Howard needs to keep an eye on Ronaldo in order to hold down Portugal.
After the red card that Portugal defender Pepe sustained against Germany they will be playing 10 men instead of playing 11. Portugal needs to step up in order to keep up with Team USA.
Winner A very young defense that held on against an impressive Ghana offense, Team USA's defense needs to step up their game against a the strikers of Portugal
Winner One place where soccer is literally breed into the children, Portugal's fan base are die hard fans that will stand behind their team no matter the consequences. Plus the fan base for Ronaldo puts the Justin Bieber fan club to shame.
'The American Outlaws' were in attendance against Ghana but I couldn't help but twinge every time someone from USA tweeted that they didn't understand what was going on. Come on USA we have the technology to learn these things.

The Winner Is

Winner USA
4 out of 5

Even though USA may face some missing players it is nothing compared to Portugal. USA needs to take advantage of Portugal's missing player and injuries in order to secure second place in Group G.

While Jay Cutler lacks consistency, he is capable of taking over any game and carrying the Bears with his strong arm when he gets on a roll.

Tale Of The Tape: Pittsburgh Steelers At Carolina Panthers

The Steelers are a veteran team that should understand how to play in a big game, but they appeared unprepared for their Week Two game with the Baltimore Ravens.

Tale Of The Tape: Kansas City Chiefs At Miami Dolphins

The Chiefs picked it up quite a bit in losing a 24-17 decision at Denver, and that should be encouraging to Andy Reid and quarterback Alex Smith.
