RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A humanist group is claiming the state of North Carolina violated the First Amendment by allowing voting in churches that advocated anti-gay political stances.

The Rowan County Board of Commissioners has come under fire recently for its liberal inclusion of Jesus’ name during prayers offered before its official meetings. However, public scrutiny and existing litigation prohibiting exclusionary actions during government proceedings did not stop the board from allegedly hosting a full-on prayer meeting Monday night.
