Keidel: Feasting On Football

The endless genius of the NFL can’t be completely quantified. But part of pro football’s popularity is burning its image in our culture and our consciousness. While baseball and basketball have their July 4 and Christmas brands, they are afterthoughts, or leftovers, compared to the NFL’s hallmark roll call.

Matt Flynn Hopes His NFL Travels End In Oakland

Fans of the Oakland Raiders know the phrase “quarterback competition” almost more than any other in the English language. That is no different for the 2013 season, but Matt Flynn hopes that the competition ends his well-traveled career and ends with him.

Panthers’ Payback: Keep Brees Out Of Record Book

The Panthers and Saints will not be playing past this weekend as both will miss the playoffs, but there are some interesting story lines to watch for. Panthers Notch Their First Three Game Streak Since 2009

It was a day not fit for man nor beast, and that was just the yellow flags that were raining down on their heads. Without Seymour, Raiders Left Defenseless Against ‘Healthier’ Panthers

Defense has not been a trademark of the 2012 Raiders, having given up 402 points in 14 games, so it will be no surprise if they add to that inflated number this weekend. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Richard Seymour has somehow stayed on the active roster all season, despite missing the last six contests, and he will be out again when his team tries to slow down the recharged Panthers.

Offense Challenged Raiders Ripe For The Picking In Panther Final Home Game Of 2012

The world did not come to an end as the Mayans had predicted, so that is good news for the Panthers as they get to play a downtrodden Raiders team on Sunday to close out their home schedule. After a brutal start to the season, Carolina is one win away from matching their record from a year ago and have a chance to better it with one game remaining on the docket.
