NC State Asst Bobby Lutz: “You Either Have That Fire Or You Dont And We Need To Recruit Those Type Of Players That Have It”
The Drive Wednesday 4-3-13 -Bobby Lutz talks with Taylor and Marc about the crazy story out of Rutgers of head coach Mike Price berating his players, what the Wolfpack plans to do to replace the players they are losing to the draft, and we get his thoughts on why the Wolfpack made a first round exit in the tournament this year.
It’s understandable to see a few Sydney Lowe holdovers transfer or to lose stars to the draft, but Rodney Purivs doesn’t fit either category. He’s a Gottfried recruit and he’s choosing to leave the school. Convincing fans and recruits that the program’s future is still as bright as a it was a year ago – when they made a surprising Sweet 16 run – will be Mark Gottfried’s biggest challenge.

NCSU Coach Mark Gottfried: “We’re Going To Build A Great Program Here, With Great Players, With Great Character”
The Drive Friday 3-29-13 -Mark Gottfried talks with The Drive about the rumors of him leaving Raleigh and taking the job at UCLA, how he feels about the season the Wolfpack had after losing in the first round of the tournament, and if he anticipates more players leaving his team for the NBA.
I never thought NC State would be a final four contender, and I certainly don’t today. But I did think they would continually be in the top 25, and be a lot better than 8-6 in a conference that is far from being the best.
NC State’s loss at Maryland, and close call against Clemson were so predictable. At some point Mark Gottfried’s teams must stop playing to the level of its competition if they truly want to become elite. Thus, tonight at Wake Forest should be an easy victory. And beating an average North Carolina squad on Saturday shouldn’t be a problem, either.

I’m truly happy for NC State fans. They are one of the most passionate fanbases in America, and have gotten very little in return since the early 1990’s. Last Saturday’s victory over Duke was their […]
