You have to hand it to the Panthers for figuring out who is to blame for their latest defeat. It wasn’t the offense for failing to get a first down late in the game and it surely wasn’t the fault of the defense that could not stop the Buccaneers not once but three straight times late in the game. That honor went to Justin Medlock, who had the unmitigated gall to miss a field goal with 2:42 left – in the FIRST half.
It was hard to believe the Panthers team that took the field on Sunday was 1-5 because they gave the Chicago Bears and their quarterback Jay Cutler fits throughout. But the Monsters of the Midway prevailed on a last second field goal which handed Carolina their fifth straight loss dropping them even further into the cellar of the NFC South Division.
Medlock is a picture of perseverance, having waited five years to get back in the league with the Panthers.
