Charlotte’s long and distinguished history of African American accomplishments is celebrated every February during Black History Month. Special concerts and exhibits showcase black culture, and the CIAA Tournament, pitting the teams of historically black colleges and universities in a basketball shootout, brings the month to dramatic finale.
Kwanzaa is the only non-heroic, non-religious African American celebration.
