The Drive With Taylor Zarzour & Marc James 2PM-7PM
Week 8 in the SEC was one full of joy and despair, depending on what colors you don on Saturday afternoons in the fall. You saw the Vanderbilt Commodores beat the #15 Georgia Bulldogs in Nashville, something Vanderbilt head James Franklin needed to back up his words this off-season when he said he felt this was the year Vandy could take down one of the SEC East’s “Big 3″.
Former Ravens head coach and current Fox Sports broadcaster Brian Billick talks with The Drive about the Panthers being a possible playoff contender if they beat the Bucs tonight and finally get a winning record, if he thinks Cam Newton has finally seen the light and figured out what it takes to be professional quarterback, and we talk about if ever thinks about getting back into coaching.
Jason LaCanfora talks with The Drive about Steve Smith’s comments on our show from Tuesday, how the Panthers will react to having a .500 record and if having a strong home field advantage is as important as some make it out to be.
Wide Receiver Steve Smith called in to “The Drive” with Taylor Zarzour and Marc James to set the record straight about his locker room comments, his record setting 800th career reception, and furthering his record with a 3-3 Panthers team.
Clinton Portis talks with The Drive about the Miami Hurricanes sanctions that came down today from the NCAA, what he thinks about as he looks back on his career, and we discuss the role of concussions in the NFL with current and past players.
Well, not my best week to date but I was over .500 last week so if you went with me, you were a winner.
Week 7 in the SEC had a little bit of everything, blowouts like South Carolina’s 52-7 drubbing of Arkansas and Alabama’s 48-7 destruction of Kentucky but it also featured some close calls in Texas A&M’s 41-38 escape from Oxford and Mississippi State outlasting Bowling Green 21-20 but the biggest news Week 7 delivered was the upset Missouri captured in Athens against a hobbled Georgia team that busted the SEC East wide open.
-Will Cam Newton & Ron Rivera finally start to live up to expectations and enter Uncharted Territory to even their sub. 500 record at 3-3 with a win over St. Louis at home Sunday?…
Wednesday featured the ACC’s Operation Basketball which was essentially the ACC Men’s basketball’s media day for 2013. Players and coaches from all 14 ACC schools gathered in downtown Charlotte with the credentialed media for a day full of interviews.
