The Charlotte Roller Girls are the premiere roller skating team in Charlotte! Formed to promote the sport of roller derby as well as enrich the Charlotte community, The Charlotte Roller Girls have skated their way to stardom and mass appeal! So… Who are the Charlotte Roller Girls?
The sport of roller derby was introduced to Charlotte back in 2006 shortly after a few local women were made aware of the sport and interest grew.The Charlotte Roller Girls were established in 2008. With a focus on athletics, the Charlotte Roller Girls donate their energies, time and efforts to local and charitable organizations within Charlotte as well as the surrounding areas . They also donate a portion of of bout proceeds to local causes and charities. With intense training, a focus on health, well-being and diligence to the craft of roller skating, the team offers a true skating competition against other teams, while exuding the highest standards in sportsmanship.
The Inter-League Teams
The Charlotte Roller Girls have two inter league teams Both the “All-Stars” and “B Dazzlers” are known for their charisma, fierce roller skating, and their ability to overcome their opponents with focus and experience.
The roster for each team has the ability to change throughout the season with skaters transferring from team to team based upon individual performance.
Community and Corporate Partners
The Charlotte Roller Girls are true believers in giving back. So when there is opportunity to do so, you can be rest assured that they take full advantage of doing so. Through volunteerism, donations and partnerships with local charitable organizations, the team takes tremendous pride in making an impact on their surroundings. The Charlotte Roller Girls have partnered with the Humane Society of Charlotte. They work in partnership with the organization to help educate the public on the importance of spay/neuter efforts with animals. They are equally active with their time, talents and efforts to other organizations such as “A Child’s Place”, ” A Second Breath”, “Classroom Central”, “Friendship Trays”, “Habitat For Humanity”, “Pride Charlotte”, “Toys for Tots” and the “Regional AIDS Interfaith Network.” They also have several business partnerships with thriving companies within the Charlotte region.
Recruiting and Information Sessions
Throughout the year, the Charlotte Roller Girls team sponsors various information and recruitment sessions. If you are 18 years old, female and think you have what it takes to be a Charlotte Roller Girl, then you are encouraged to join the team. They also stay on the lookout for male or female referees, coaches and trainers. They do require primary health insurance to join as a skater or referee. Tickets and Venue Information
All home competitions are held at Charlotte’s Grady Cole Center, located at 310 N. Kings Drive. The season runs from February through December. Fans can purchase single bout tickets in advance, on their website, directly and VIP Season Tickets are also available. Certain stores and companies also supply tickets and can be purchased there. They include, but are not limited to: The Common Market, The Last Word bookstore in the University area in Charlotte and the Sleepy Poet Antique Mall. The team is known to celebrate at their official after party place, the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille at 911 E.
