It’s that time of year again when food, folks and fun take center stage! So take the time to learn of one of the Carolinas’ most festive events ever! It’s time for The 9th Annual Time Warner Cable BBQ & Blues !

Time Warner Cable BBQ and Blues is an annual event where great cooks, great people and great music assemble to make one memorable 2-day festival! This year’s festival will be held at the NC Music factory. Steeped rich in tradition, organizers offer the public great cooking exhibits, live music from regional acts and great opportunities for the tasting of great food and drinks!

Oh! The Events!

From cook-offs to live music, the events seem endless opportunities for fun that lasts well into the evening! One of the highlights is the “Holy Smokers Too Championship BBQ Technique Class”! Participants can learn BBQ techniques as well as fire management and meat selection. This class fee of $75 includes the BBQ cookbook / textbook used by over 1200 students. It will take place September 9th at the Food Tent @ VBGB, from 10-2PM. Other events include the “Queen City Cars Preview”. It is a car-collector’s dream event! Come see, talk and drive classic cars!

The Competitions!

More than 100 teams are expected to travel to Charlotte this year, for their chance to win trophies, supreme bragging rights, and more than $25,000 in prize money! The mouth watering food categories competitions will be held in are “BBQ Ribs”, “Best Booth”, “Whole Hog”, “Mac ‘n Cheese” and “Pork Shoulder.” This year’s Grand Champion will take home $7,500, a custom made Governors’ Cup Trophy as well as a spot to represent the Southeast & Time Warner Cable BBQ & Blues at the Memphis in May Championship in 2012!

…And The Music!

If you are a blues fan, then this is the event for you! This year’s line up promises to bring the great tunes by way of some great musicians! This year’s line up includes: the legendary Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan and Tilt-A-Whirl featuring Lou Ann Barton! Live music will be available both September 9th as well as September 10th. Reserved as well as general seating and a full schedule of acts is available!

…And More Fun!

Additional opportunities for excitement and fun include a “Cornhole Toss”, “Segway Tours”, “Charlotte Roller Girls Dunking Booth” and the “Fun Zone”. Each is a chance to test skills, have great times with friends and family and grab some bragging rights!

From 1-77
1. Look for Exit 11A signs, Brookshire Freeway (NC HWY 16, I-277 East) and take that exit.
2. As you are traveling east on Brookshire Freeway, take the first exit after I-77, the Graham Street Exit.
3.Ramp onto 10th Street at the bottom of the exit, bearing right until you come to the traffic light at graham street.
4. Bear right onto Graham Street as you approach the light, and make your way into the left lane traveling north.
5. After you pass under the bridge, and through the west 12th Street traffic light, merge into the left turn lane, and turn left onto seaboard street. Stay on this street for about a 1/2 mile and you’ll see the NC Music Factory on your right.

I-85 From the South
1. Look for Exit 36 signs HWY 16 (Brookshire Freeway, I-277 East) and make that exit, bearing right at the top of the ramp.

Independence Blvd (US 74) from the east
1. Follow signs for Brookshire Freeway (I-277 West/North) and exit at the Church Street Exit.
2. Go straight through first light, and take a right at the next light onto Graham Street.
3. Follow Graham Street and make your way into the left lane traveling north.
4. After you pass under the bridge, and through the west 12th Street traffic light, merge into the left turn lane, and turn left onto seaboard street. Stay on this street for about a 1/2 mile and you’ll see the NC Music Factory on your right.

From Uptown
1. Head west on 6th street, trade street, 4th street or 2nd Street, to Graham Street and take a right.
2. Stay on Graham Street heading north.
3. After you pass under the bridge, and through the west 12th Street traffic light, merge into the left turn lane, and turn left onto seaboard street. Stay on this street for about a 1/2 mile and you’ll see the NC Music Factory on your right.

Reserved Seating is available at the Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheater for all music.

BBQ & Blues is a rain or shine event.
