Great Wolfe Lodge in Concord, NC is an absolute blast! This is an indoor water park with a ski lodge theme. (A little mixture of both mountains & beach). It is located next to Concord Mills which is wonderful for shopping & many restaurants. It is always 80 degrees inside the water park. Yes, it is enclosed! AWESOME! I think there is a minimum 2 night stay but trust me you will want to stay. So much fun and so convenient you don’t have to waste your whole vacation running all over the place and waiting in long lines.

Besides Carowinds and Discovery Place, if you are looking for a vacation place, there is Great Wolf Lodge in Concord. It is an indoor water park hotel that you must stay at to access and right down the street is Concord Mills Mall which is a huge indoor mall full of outlet stores, NASCAR theme park, Dave & Busters and other stuff. Also if you are a NASCAR fan a lot of the race shops are based in the Charlotte area and you can visit most of them.

There is quite a few things to do in the area and surrounding area. Of course there’s Carowinds theme park which is my favorite. It has the best roller coaster I’ve been on which is the Intimidator. Also a water park with water rides and a huge wave pool. The cost is about $50 for a ticket but after 4pm its $25.There is the Disocvery Place which is uptown and is a nice place to take your kids(if any) and learn new and exciting things. Not sure of the price but I dont think its that expensive. There is the new Whitewater Center which has a lot of fun outdoor activities such as rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, and nature trail. There is also a waterpark in Greensboro which is about 45-60min drive from Charlotte which is a lot of fun. The beach is about 3-4hrs away if you’re up for a drive. Hope this helps. Enjoy your vacation!
There’s also quite a few historic homes to visit and museums. Also an old gold mine which they still do tours of its on the outskirts of charlotte, called Reed Gold Mine, not expensive at all. Carowinds is expensive its like 70 or so bucks per person. Younger kids might be cheaper. And it only last one day!! Theres also celebration station (its now changed names but everyone in town still calls it Celebration station lol) it has arcade games, puttputt, go carts and bumper boats. Theres also the nascar speedway which is go carts just several different tracks and types of cars. Hope that helped some
it’s about a 3-4 hour drive to the beach. there is a theme park right over the border to south carolina called carowinds. it’s pretty fun, it is a theme park and water park in one, so you just pay the entry fee once for both parks. it’s about a 20 minute drive from the city. uptown there is a really good night scene, lots of fun bars, dancing, and nice restaurants. they are not very expensive. there are some art galleries to see also in the uptown area.
