One of the greatest college football players of all-time, Herschel Walker, had a workout regiment as famous as his game. Taylor Zarzour asked Herschel what he does now-a-days to stay in shape and nothing has changed.

“Well I’ve been doing about 1,500 pushups and about 3,500 sit-ups a day. I’m just trying to keep myself ready. That’s my foundation. I tell people That’s the foundation I started and that’s the foundation I continue to do.”

The 3-time consensus All-American running back at Georgia talked about his playing days as the star in the backfield for the Bulldogs.

“Playing at the University of Georgia….I didn’t play for accolades, I didn’t play for trophies. I didn’t play for that. I went out to play to help my team win and whatever it took to go out there win, that is what I wanted to do.”

When the USFL collapsed, Herschel joined the Dallas Cowboys. The 2-time All-Pro running back had fond memories of playing for the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones.

“Jerry Jones is a wonderful owner, people come down on him but he’s a wonderful owner. As a general manager, he may not be too good but as a owner, he’s one of the best owners in the NFL, if not the best owner in the NFL.”

The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner has several foundations, each dedicated to bettering the community around him. His latest project is one that involves him working with United States soldiers who have just returned from war.

“When they come home, we have to help those men and women, and that’s what I’m doing now.”

The New 103.7 will host a special musical evening featuring Billy Currington on Monday, September 9th at Coyote Joe’s.

All door proceeds will go to the “HEARTest Yard” fund started by Greg Olsen of the Carolina Panthers benefiting Levine Children’s Hospital.

“I was married to ESPN. My wife was my mistress. My family was my mistress. That was the hard part, I had it in reverse order.”

The 2013 NSSA Sportscaster of the Year talked about his immediate feelings after quitting ESPN and how he feels about the position he is now.

“I thought I just had committed career suicide. At one point, I said to my wife ‘I don’t know what I just did’. And then I got into business with the right people. The Dan-ettes have been awesome. We have fun and do it for the right reasons. I haven’t had this much fun since, I don’t know, since I was doing Sportscenter with Keith(Olbermann).”

The Dan Patrick Show takes pride in breaking news and carving out previously unknown information so Dan dived into who he feels is the best interviewee as well as how he handles interviews and what his goals are when he interviews a guest.

“Whoever is honest. If you’re honest with me, I’ll have a good interview. If you’re the guy who’s trying to hide, deflect, then I’m not going to get anything out of it….I like to get you a little bit off balance, I don’t want you to have a comfort level, I’m trying to get something for the audience…When I sit down with someone, if I don’t get something that you remember and tell somebody at work then I didn’t do my job, but that is always my goal.”

Now one the most famous personalities on the radio, Dan Patrick talked about himself as a young employee at ESPN as well as his thoughts as he grew into his now, profession.

“I think when I worked at the Mothership, I worked in fear at times. Believe it or not, I thought I could get fired at any moment. I never felt comfortable and I think they did that on purpose but it backfires with you because you want to be yourself, and everyone always says ‘Oh, be yourself’. It’s really hard to be yourself, you gotta know who yourself is. At some point, it’s ‘Okay, who are you?’, it took me a long time to figure out who I was and who I was willing to be on the air.”
