An overall look at how the 14 schools in the Atlantic Coast Conference fared Wednesday on Signing Day.
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Wake Forest didn’t have its leading scorer against No. 11 Duke. Once the Demon Deacons started giving the ball to the Blue Devils, they didn’t have much of a chance.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Wake Forest has been tough to beat at home lately — especially for highly ranked teams. But Syracuse’s tough zone defense wouldn’t let the Demon Deacons get hot enough to pull another upset.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Normally, the drive between Blacksburg, Va., and Winston-Salem, N.C., is roughly two hours, but Wake Forest coach Jeff Bzdelik said the ride may last a little longer after his team’s win over Virginia Tech.
Jay Bilas checks in with The Drive fresh off of calling the UNC vs Virginia game from Monday night. We first ask Jay just what is wrong with the Tar Heels.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Wake Forest’s road trips always seem to end the same way — in defeat. While the Demon Deacons have been unbeatable at home this season, they’ve been simply terrible away from Winston-Salem.
Virginia has a most humbling experience to thank for its sudden basketball resurgence. The Cavaliers started Wednesday night’s game against Wake Forest with a 22-6 run and never let up in a 74-51 victory, giving them their first 2-0 start in Atlantic Coast Conference play since the 2009-10 season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Travis McKie scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half to help Wake Forest beat No. 19 North Carolina 73-67 on Sunday in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both teams.
The Charlotte Bobcats have won two in a row to improve to 3-2 on the season, while the 5-3 Carolina Panthers have blown out four straight opponents.
The Carolina Panthers will play their fourth consecutive game against an opponent they have no business losing to. And if they knock off the Atlanta Falcons at home, they’ll at worst be tied for the final ah off spot in the NFC with half of the season remaining.
