Travelle Wharton Talks Buccaneers/Panthers Game & Preseason Action
Former Carolina Panthers lineman Travelle Wharton called in to “The Mac Attack” to discuss the Panther’s upcoming first regular season game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers & his new job as analyst on Time Warner Cable Panthers channel.
To stop defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will be tough, and the Panthers really haven’t been a great run block team in the past few years.
“The Panthers can’t put themselves in a bad position on 3rd and long and have him tee off,” says Wharton.
Gearing up for the Tampa Bay game, Wharton says that all of the players and coaches know what to expect with certain looks and are practicing with, for the most part, a complete set of healthy starters.
If it’s a physical game and there is a high energy with the Panthers like their fourth preseason game, then Wharton feels like Carolina should win the game.
During the Ron Rivera era, the Carolina Panthers team has started the season 1-3. How can they come up with a formula to avoid starting with a losing record?
“Paying attention to detail,” says Wharton. “It’s hard to here, ‘Hey we’re so close,’ and when watching game film you realize you are so close.”
