Former Carolina Panther Mike Minter was featured for Flashback Friday. Catch this great interview with Frank & Yarbs as the guys discuss Minter’s insight on the current NFL as well as his career as a head coach.

Kicking off your second year as Campbell’s head football coach with a loss to UNC Charlotte, what areas will you look to improve upon for the rest of the season?

“Mark, I definitely watched the film already… If you look at the ball game we played for three quarters on some real sound defense and some real sound football and then in that third quarter where the depth shows up is where really, at the end of the day, was the difference in that ball game.”

What have you learned that you’ve carried over with your passion from the NFL to being a head college football coach?

“I think the thing that I’ve learned is that passion, you know, sometimes you’ve got to dial that  down a little bit as a coach.”

Mike, you’ve had the opportunity to play for some great coaches. Who’s been your inspiration for coaching?

“Coach Osborne. I mean he’s the greatest… You talk about a man that understands the whole total aspect of being a football coach, of building young people.”

This NFL preseason has been hard to watch with all the penalties involving illegal defensive contact. How hard would it be for you to play in the NFL today?

“It’d be real hard for me… If you can’t hit [receivers] they won’t be intimidated”
