Suspect Arrested After Shooting Teen In Steele Creek

CMPD officers and medics were dispatched to the 7-Eleven in Southwest Charlotte amid reports of a shooting.

The 7-Eleven is located at the intersection of Rivergate and South Tryon, in Steele Creek. The call for help came in shortly before noon.

The victim, a teenager, was shot in the stomach. Engine 37 with the Charlotte Fire Department was on scene treating the victim. He was transported to a nearby hospital, with life threatening injuries.

The suspect fled on foot, however, a short time later, officers with the Steele Creek Division were able to track Alfred Rivera-Padilla down.

Rivera-Padilla has been charged with assault and robbery while possessing a dangerous weapon, in addition to assault with a deadly weapon.

According to police, officers were called to the report of a shooting along the 12700 block of S. Tryon Street just before noon Thursday. This is near the Rivergate shopping center.
