Woman Arrested After Boy Is Struck With SUV
BELTON, S.C. (AP) — Police say a woman driving under suspension has been taken into custody after her SUV struck a child in Belton.
Investigators told local media outlets that 30-year-old Jennifer Hess is cooperating with police after the wreck around 1 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities say the child ran in front of Hess and it appears there was nothing she could do to avoid him. Police say she wasn’t distracted or speeding.
Police say the boy was in critical condition at a Greenville hospital.
Hess also is charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper vehicle license. It wasn’t known if she had a lawyer.
