A police officer assigned to the North Tryon Division of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has been arrested and is accused of sex crimes against a minor.

A criminal investigation was launched in early July amid reports that Officer Reginald K. Harris had sexually assaulted a family member multiple times between 1999 and 2002.

Harris was taken into custody today and faces a slew of sex charges, including indecent liberties with a minor and three counts of crimes against nature.

His wife, Dia Harris, is also being charged in the case. She faces numerous charges including felony child abuse, indecent liberties with a minor, and crimes against nature.

Harris has been a CMPD officer since 1988.
