CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — An upcoming international soccer match in Charlotte is being designated as an extraordinary event.

The designation declared by City Manager Ron Carlee allows police to designate areas where people won’t be allowed to carry backpacks and other items. The declaration is for Saturday’s Guinness International Champions Cup match between the Liverpool FC and AC Milan.

The match will be held at Bank of America Stadium.

A fan fest will be held on the day of the game. A portion of South Mint Street will be closed beginning at 10 a.m. for vendor set-up.

Fan fest will open to the public at 4 p.m. and remain open until the start of the game at 6:30 p.m. It will not include alcohol sales, food sales or entertainment.
