This is the 20th season of Panther football.  Who are the best guys to play for the Cats at each position in those 2 decades?  Here is my all time Panther roster (with a little help from 610 THE FAN listeners).  Let’s start first with the Offense.

QB- Cam Newton- I wanted to go with Jake and his 59 percent win percentage and his 5 playoff wins, but I said I would listen to the people and you have spoken. No doubt Cam is the most physically gifted QB in the history of the team. And, his QB rating is 5 points higher than Jake’s in Carolina.  Plus, the running aspect is a huge advantage for Cam.

RB- Deangelo Williams- Say what you want about D-Will (and I have) but no other back is within 1900 yards of him and he has averaged a very strong 4.9 ypc for his career.

FB- Brad Hoover- Tolbert could get this title if he stays  here for awhile, but Hoov was Mr. Reliable for 10 years with the Cats.

WR- Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad.  No other WR is within 6500 yards of either of these guys.  They are two of the best Panthers ever regardless of position.

TE- Wesley Walls- If you did a 25th anniversary team in 5 years, Greg Olsen might well be in this spot.  Olsen’s last two years included more catches than Walls ever had in a season.  But, Walls went to 5 Pro Bowls in 7 years as a Panther.  And he had 44 TD grabs during that time. Plus, Olsen still has a ways to go before he catches Walls’ 3902 yards in Carolina.

OT- Jordan Gross-one of the easiest picks on the team.  Locked down that LT spot for a decade.

OT- Todd Steussie- started every game at LT for 3 years, including the Super Bowl year in 2003.   He allowed Gross to begin his career on the right side.  Was not as good as his Pro Bowl self in Minnesota, but he makes the cut by default at a weak 2nd tackle spot in franchise history.

C- Ryan Kalil- Might be the best Center in the game.  And, he could end his career very close to being the best Panther ever.  He has been a healthy full time starter for 5 seasons with the Panthers and has gone to 4 Pro Bowls.

OG- Travelle Wharton- Mr. Reliable.  Panthers don’t have the best crop of guards ever.  Can’t go wrong with the steady Wharton who was a part of a couple great John Fox running games and 3 playoff teams.

OG- Kevin Donnalley- 3 year starter for the Panthers. Was a starter on the 2003 Super Bowl team.  Admittedly this is a weak spot in Panther lore.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Trai Turner or Amini Silatolu took this spot over on the 25th Anniversary team.

K- John Kasay- Doesn’t even need an explanation. He is Mr. Panther.
