KITTRELL, NC (CBS Charlotte) – Vance County sheriff’s deputies say a family argument turned deadly.

WRAL-TV reports that an 84-year-old man shot and wounded his 49-year-old son.  The 89-year-old was then shot to death by his 11-year-old grandson, according to police.

Police were called to the home where they discovered Lloyd Woodlief, the 84-year-old homeowner, had been shot with a 12-gauge shotgun.  Woodlief died a short time later.

Police also discovered that Woodlief’s son, 49-year-old Lloyd Peyton Woodlief, was shot with a .22-caliber long piston.  He was taken to Duke Medical Center.

Police later determined that the older Woodlief was shot by his grandson.

This is currently an ongoing investigation.  No other information was released.
