POWDERSVILLE,  S.C. (CBS Charlotte) – Police say an intruder was shot and killed by a wheelchair-bound homeowner.

Latisha Vernon called the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office to report a burglary in progress at Orlandous Brown’s home at 12:35 a.m. last Thursday.

Brown shot a 26-year-old Atlanta man “multiple times” after the man tried to burglarize the home, Greenville Online reported.

Authorities arrived to the home and found two men in the living room with gunshot wounds, the police report cited. In defending his home, Brown was also shot by the intruder.

The intruder was pronounced dead at the scene and Brown was taken to the hospital where he went through surgery for non-life-threatening wounds, Chief Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman told Greenville Online.

The name of the intruder hasn’t been released pending notification to his family. An autopsy was performed last Thursday.
