Man Charged With Killing NC Woman Dies
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend in North Carolina has died from injuries sustained in a car crash in South Carolina.
Officials at Carolinas Medical Center say 51-year-old Jimmy Wayne Estes died Thursday night.
Estes had been hospitalized since Monday, when he was involved in a serious wreck near Fort Mill, South Carolina. Authorities say he intentionally drove into the opposite lane of traffic, hitting a dump truck head-on.
Authorities charged Estes with murder after finding the body of 52-year-old Frances Harley Gutnick in a home near the Catawba River in southwest Mecklenburg County. Police say the two had been in a relationship.
