Chris Simms: Sammy Watkins is the Best WR Prospect Since Megatron
Chris Simms from Bleacher Report joined the Mac Attack to discuss the NFL draft and the Panthers options.
On the offensive tackles after the top four (all assumed to be taken before the 28th pick): I do think it’s a little high. I don’t think it’s totally crazy, but at the same time you look at a guy like Morgan Moses from Virginia, he might be in the conversation.
On drafting a wide receiver: To me, there’s a lot of good receivers in this draft. I think Carolina needs to go that route and get one and give Cam Newton some help. You could see 5-7 wide receivers go in the first round. If there’s a chance that Marqise Lee is there, even Davante Adams from Fresno State… Donte Moncrief, who I really think is one of the under radar freaks in the draft… Those are some of the names that could come up towards the end of the first round if Carolina wants to go that WR direction.
On a guy he’s in love with: Sammy Watkins at wide receiver. To me he’s the best wide receiver prospect to come out since Calvin Johnson…
On the cornerback market: The corner is pretty good. The top five or six are really good, but I think when you get down to the third round it’s slim pickings, as far as quality corners that you want to contribute in year one.
