Man On Lawnmower Loses Hand After Small Plane Crashes Into Him
TAYLORSVILLE, NC (CBS Charlotte) – A man lost his hand while he was mowing the lawn at the Taylorsville Airport when a small plane crash-landed into him.
Police say the small plane had to make an emergency crash-landing.
Edward Eugene Sisson, the pilot of the plane, told WSOC-TV that he did not see the man on the lawn mower when he was attempting to land the plane.
John Rufty did not see the plane as the airport does not have traffic controllers.
Rufty lost his hand and was taken to North Carolina Baptist Hospital, according to WSOC.
Sessions was not injured in the crash.
The National Transportation and Safety Board is leading the ongoing investigation.
