Josh Norris: Jason Verrett Would Be Outstanding Pick For Panthers
NFL Draft analysts, Josh Norris, from Rotoworld.com and NBC Sports joined the Mac Attack to discuss the Panthers options in next week’s draft.
On Morgan Moses: He’s sort of grown on me. At the beginning I was focused on his terrible technique. I don’t love him now, but he’s someone who doesn’t have to win by bending at the knees or absorbing or redirecting, because he’s just so massive.
On Wide Receivers: I don’t think Davante Adams is worth 28, at all. I think second round is more likely. Lattimer is interesting. Teams love guys with big bodies who can run fast in a straight line. Lattimer struggles to separate on the ground, in terms of his breaks, but this guy can create a sliver of separation at the catch point and he’s someone who rarely drops it. He is extremely reliable. I expect Lattimer to go ahead of Adams, right now, but I think they’re going by the end of the 2nd round.
On Josh’s dream scenario: I’m going to go with Jimmie Ward, the safety from Northern Illinois, but I doubt he’s going to be there. He has some Kenny Vaccaro type skills and we saw how well Vacarro played with the Saints.
On the cornerback need: They need someone to fill Captain Munnerlyn’s shoes in the slot. I think Jason Verrett from TCU, would be outstanding. Sure he’s 5’9″, 190 pounds and people will pigeon-hole him, but I don’t think there’s a corner who plays the ball better in contested situations.
