Woman Facing More Charges After April Fool’s Day Shooting Prank
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A woman arrested after falsely reporting a shooting at a Spartanburg school on April Fools’ Day is facing more charges.
Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Ivey says 54-year-old Angela Timmons has been charged with breach of peace, disturbing schools and illegal use of a telephone.
Sheriff Chuck Wright says more than a dozen deputies responded to Virginia College on Tuesday morning. Wright says a woman had called 911, saying she got a text from her mother who reported that shots had been fired at the campus.
Wright says the daughter called 911 after her mother did not respond to another message. Deputies arrived and found no shooting. Wright says Timmons admitted the message was a prank.
Court records listed no attorney for Timmons. She says she chose the wrong prank this year.
