Chris Simms : I Don’t Think Any Of The Quarterbacks Should Go In Top 10
Football analyst Chris Simms, from Fox Sports, joins Mac and Jim to discuss the Panthers off-season, the NFl Draft, and Desean Jackson.
On the Panthers: It’s not time to panic. You still have a lot of key parts, as far as having a good team. The wide receiver thing, Cotchery and Underwood are a good start. I don’t know why they abandoned their whole receiving core, but if there is to do it, this is the year. As far as the draft goes, it is a very deep wide receiver class. They’re certainly capable of getting some really good players at the end of the first or second round that could help out at the receiver position.
On who the Panthers could take at 28: I really think there could be 5, 6, or 7 wide receivers that could go in the first round. Brandin Cooks is certainly one of those guys that might be available there late, but I think he’s climbing up boards as we get closer to the draft. Some other guys that might be there: Marquis Lee from USC and Davante Adams from Fresno State. And if they want to go big, I think Kelvin Benjamin might be there as well.
On the quarterback class: I don’t think any of these quarterbacks should go in the top 10. I think you’re going to have a year a lot like last year, where a lot of people are going to pull back and say the value for a quarterback in the top ten just isn’t there. There’s too many good players in the draft and you’ve heard a number of coaches say the drop off between the next three quarterbacks and those top three, there’s just not that much of a drop off in talent level.
