CBS College Basketball Analyst Doug Gottlieb Talks Final Four.  Who is the bigger surprise Kentucky or UConn? What does Gottlieb think about the One and Dones and his picks for the Championship game.

Some teams have really surprised the country with their recent play. Teams like Kentucky and UCONN that had their struggles throughout  the year but have brighten the dawn with births into the Final Four.

So which team has you more shocked with the recent play?

“I think UCONN is the most surprising because they are so wildly dependent on one guy to bail them out.”

The one and done group this year raised questions early in the tournament, other than Kentucky the young groups have been dumped. Teams that have young leaders like Duke and Syracuse are left wondering if they are recruiting the player.

“The truth its somewhere in the middle….I don’t like the one and done.”

You have players that hit a few good shots in  the tournament, turn to the NBA but really need time to develop. You get beat when you are young because you don’t commit yourself at both ends and you haven’t learned everything.

“When you haven’t played at a high level in college you don’t know how to play hard.”

As we look at the current coaches in the tournament some names are surprising to the non-fanatic of college basketball. Guys like Bo Ryan from Wisconsin and Kevin Ollie from UCONN; are ones that  don’t get a lot of national run.

“Kevin Ollie he’s a star, he could be an NBA coach if he wanted.”

“he totally gets it….he go up town or downtown.”

How this group of coaches relates to their individual team is very different and shows you the varying styles that exist in college basketball.

Bo Ryan doesn’t relate to his team the same way,”its a collective group”, they play his way, different then Calipari and Billy Donovan.

The players left in the tournament are very different when you compare talent and system players.

When you look at Kentucky and Wisconsin it is a different cast.

“Wisconsin all their guards can post up, well Kentucky is huge….I don’t know how those post ups are going to work.”

Wisconsin did different things to Baylor then what they will try to do to Kentucky. The way they try to attack them and their coaching strategies.

“Calipari is a ilttle bit of a better coach the Scott Drew.”

You have a totally different style in defense as well between these teams.

All this said  Florida and Kentucky in the national Championship is the pick I have. “Florida just grinds you defensively.” See them having an explosive half that gets them past UCONN.
