Police: Man Arrested For Posting Sexually Explicit Pictures Of Underage Girls On Social Media
ROWAN COUNTY, NC (CBS Charlotte) – A man has been arrested after an investigation into nude photos of high school students appearing on various social media outlets.
The Landis Police Department worked with the Granite Quarry Police Department to arrest Peter Thomas Kiever. He has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and disseminating child pornography as well as other crimes.
Police say another person is also being charged but is a minor and is not being named.
It all started when a woman called police to let them know that her daughter learned somebody posted naked pictures of her on Twitter and Instagram.
Investigations then began in many counties.
According to a search warrant, the Landis Police opened an investigation after they were informed an account on Instagram called “rowancouythoes” posted sexual photos of underage girls.
WBTV-TV reports that the account had nine pictures of underage girls.
The account also asked users to submit photos of girls or guys that “you wanna put on blast.”
During the investigation, authorities came across other accounts called “rowan_county_hoes” and “rowancountywhores.”
Investigators believed these accounts collected photos without consent.
“I didn’t like it at all. You have to be a really bad person to make that,” one student told WBTV.
