60 Malnourished Dogs Seized From Home
HERTFORD, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say 60 dogs have been seized from a home in northeastern North Carolina.
Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughn says 60 Australian Shepherd dogs, including 13 puppies, were removed from the property on Monday. Officials say many of the dogs were malnourished.
Authorities said the owner had been breeding the dogs to sell but kept them instead.
The North Carolina director of the Humane Society, Kim Albourn, said the dogs have been taken to area animal shelters. Albourn doesn’t know when they might be available for adoption.
Some of the dogs had skin and eye infections or tumors. Most of them were afraid and timid.
