What team in the ACC has the best chance of taking home a conference championship?

All the teams are converging on Greensboro for the ACC Tournament; so we can look ahead to the tournament and figure out which team has the best shot at bringing home a title.

The ACC Tournament will be a nice warm-up for some teams and for others the tournament is the only shot at a NCAA bid. With the regular season  being so home court sensitive, it will be a test for all the teams. So let’s take a look at the favorites.

The ACC regular season champ: Virginia will be a team that can cause major headaches for teams in the tourney just because of the style they play. It is a grind you down and tough it out defensive team. Tony Bennett’s squad is not going to wow you with dynamic individual players, but as a team they are going to be a hard out.

The North Carolina Tarheel’s are primed and ready after a rough start to the season have defiantly found their way. Second in the ACC in points per game and tops in rebounding, the Heels are unique this season because they are a defensive team. Usually it’s the great offensive ability of Carolina that makes you look at a possible title but this year their defense is a force to be reckoned with. Great guard play from Marcus Paige, gives this team a stable scorer that is not afraid of the moment and can shoot them into a tournament victory.

Syracuse is a team that was on a roll and undefeated for a large portion of conference play and then went on a slide losing their last four of five. But don’t look past this team, the length they have in the 2-5 spots and the ever present zone makes for a tournament nightmare for most teams.

Duke is a team that probably has the most individual talent but at times the team hasn’t played well together. With this possibly being the last few games of Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood’s college careers, you can expect them to focused. The only question that remains is the lack at times of a defensive fight, if they find that in the tournament it may be lights out for everyone else.

Pitt and Clemson are trying to fight for a possible seed to the NCAA, so expect them to have strong showings.

N.C. State which has struggled throughout the year needs a title to make it into the “big dance”. The question for the Pack is who is going to step
up and help “Player Of The Year” T.J. Warren?

With all that said I have to give the edge to Duke. I understand they haven’t done well away from Cameron, but Greensboro isn’t exactly a long haul. With
the passion that Duke possessed on senior night I expect that to carry over and for Duke to relay on their offensive ability.
