DUNCAN, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Duncan police officer shot and killed a woman who jumped into his patrol car and tried to run him over.

Investigators say the officer was talking to a man after being called about a disturbance Tuesday morning behind a motel near Exit 63 on Interstate 85 in Duncan.

Authorities say a woman also at the motel got into the officer’s cruiser and drove toward him. He fired his gun, killing her.

The woman’s name has not been released.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating and says this is the 10th shooting involving a police officer this year in South Carolina.
