Bobcats President of Basketball Operations, Rod Higgins, joins Mac and Jim to discuss their deadline deal to acquire Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour from the Bucks. Rod also discusses the fans changing their perception of the Cats and Al Jefferson’s impact.

On the reason for the deal: We could add two possible rotation players to help our bench and our depth.

On Gary Neal: His strength to shoot the ball with range is something we sorely needed, particularly with the way our team is built. Adding a legitimate 3-point shooter give other guys more space.

On Luke Ridnour: He’s a seasoned veteran. He’s really a crafty player. We can use him in some screen-and-roll and he’ll shore up our backup point guard position.

On Ramon Sessions: He’s a terrific player and he fit in well with us, but sometimes you can make a deal that helps both sides accomplish what they’re trying to do.

On what they sought to avoid at the trade deadline: We didn’t want to leverage ourselves for a short term fix, where maybe we take on bad or extended money or we put in our draft picks and get a marginal talent.
