Clark Kellogg: Don’t Discard Syracuse as a Title Contender
Long time friend of the program, Clark Kellogg, joins Mac to discuss college hoops. After wishing Jim well, Clark jumps right into discussing Syracuse and the Duke/UNC rivalry.
On Syracuse: They’ve not been great offensively over the course of the year. Recently they’ve struggled, but there aren’t very many teams that don’t struggle in some capacity in the course of a long season. If you’ve got talent, you stay together and you stay healthy that can change pretty quickly. I wouldn’t be quite so quick to discard that team as a national championship contending team.
On Wichita State: They’re a really good team and better than last year, when they were a final four team. They’re legit. There’s not question about it. People should be aware of that. They’re for real.
On the rule change enforcement: Overall, I think they’ve stuck with it and it’s better for the game going forward. It’s going to take some time, but they’re headed in the right direction. I don’t think there’s been any real significant inconsistency. You can always find a few games, but in the totality they’re doing a good job with the hand check.
On Virginia: Very good. Solid. Together. Player-led. Worked through that adversity early and now have won thirteen of fourteen. Not going to dazzle you with glamour, but they’re solid.
