His 12-4 season, winning the NFC South, making a playoff appearance, and even having a Pro Bowl team victory in Hawaii sure has paid off for him!

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has signed a 3-year extension today through the 2017 season.

According to, Panthers Owner and Founder Jerry Richardson says that he looks “forward to building upon that foundation” of the team’s improvement over the last three seasons with Rivera as the head coach.

The Carolina Panthers have won 17 of their last 22 regular season games ever since Week 12 of the 2012 season!

“The team has shown improvement under Ron each year, and he is deserving of the recognition that he has received for the 2013 season,” said Gettleman. “We are pleased and excited with the continuity this extension brings.”

We will know on Saturday night during the NFL Honors Award Show whether or not Rivera will win Coach of the Year in the league.  He has already won the 2013 NFL Coach of the Year by Professional Football Writers of America.
