Producers Mark Burnett, Roma Downey Discuss Details To Upcoming “Son Of God” Movie
While visiting the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC, producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey sat down with CBS Radio’s Francene Marie to talk about their upcoming movie “Son Of God” being released nationwide on February 28th (in English and Spanish).
Burnett, who has produced TV hits like ‘The Voice’ and ‘Survivor,’ and Downey, who has starred in ‘Touched by an Angel’ for over 10 years, have joined together to bring the New Testament onto the big screen.
With balancing their marriage and careers, this powerhouse couple has found a way to make it work in this hectic industry.
“If you can’t marry an angel, listen to your wife,” advises Burnett. He says that while on the “Son Of God” set, it would be Roma that would instruct the 400 crew members and actors since everyone listens to her more.
“Son Of God” will be the first film out in movie theaters since “The Passion of the Christ” was released over ten years ago.
“For a whole generation of young people out there, this might be the first opportunity they get to see Jesus’ life played out on the screen. We just know it’s the potential here to reach people who maybe never have read the gospel, who never have been to church, but will get to go to a movie and see the life of our Savior,” says Downey.
Watch the interview above to learn about their upcoming projects as well as what song Cee Lo Green will be singing in the end credits of the film.
