Mike Tannenbaum: Greg Hardy’s a ‘Have to Have’ Foundation Player
Former Jets General Manager and current Yahoo Sports and NFL Network analyst Mike Tannenbaum talks to the guys about the Panthers cap mess and the upcoming off-season.
On Greg Hardy: [The price tag] is probably going to be pretty significant. There were a couple deals where the market softened last year, but he’s a young pass rusher. There are guys who are ‘have to haves’ and ‘want to haves’, I can’t see how he doesn’t fit into the ‘Have to haves’. If we have to extend on Hardy, and we want to pay him 8, but it’s going to 10, that’s going to come from somewhere. That’s ok, but we have to understand it may come from the left guard or the safety position, but he can’t leave the building. He’s a foundation player, it’s hard to think he’s not going to be a Panther.
On Giving Cam a Contract Extension, Now or Later: He’s going to be their guy, it’s going to be hard to replace him for the foreseeable future. With the cap always going up, you always say sooner rather than later. Knowing his character and his work ethic, he led them to the playoffs this year, those are very strong reasons to consider an extension.
Mike also discusses Rob Ryan’s hair, his time with the Jets, and his picks for the AFC and NFC Championships.
