NC Medicaid Overhaul Is Subject Of Public Hearing
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A panel charged with advising North Carolina health officials about how to change Medicaid in the state is ready to hear from interest groups and citizens who want to instruct their work.
The five-member Medicaid Reform Advisory Group scheduled an all-day public hearing Wednesday inside the state archives building. The Department of Health and Human Services says nearly 50 people or groups have signed up to speak.
DHHS plans to unveil its reform plan in mid-March and is expected to consider the advisory group’s ideas in forming a proposal.
The department suggested last month working out deals with managed-care entities to provide care to Medicaid patients in regions of the state.
The General Assembly will ultimately decide if an overhaul of the government health insurance program is warranted.
